Would you be surprised to hear that bad breath can actually be a sign of a serious problem? For instance, did you know that bad breath can be a sign of gum disease? Conversely, if you don’t have gum disease but have bad breath, you might have gum disease soon. Fortunately, there are several things you can do to fight off these issues. Similarly, there are a few things you can do to instantly improve your breath.

For example, you may know that you could grab a breath mint or chewing gum to improve your breath immediately. However, as a general rule, we recommend choosing sugar-free breath mints or chewing gum. Sadly, if you choose mints or gum with sugar in it, it could actually make your breath worse because sugar could help bacteria thrive—which might make your breath worse. Furthermore, please note that mints will only cover your bad breath, while the chewing motion can actually promote saliva which will carry plaque and bacteria away.
